I cohost the Paper and Clay Series with Adirondack Pottery.

We meet quarterly to discuss a Black Walnut Books queer read pick. While we chat about the book, Eric from Adirondack Pottery will walk us through making a functional ceramic art piece. The concept is having something fun and engaging to do with our hands while we chat about a shared read. We’ll have a themed stamp for each book pick, which you can use to decorate your piece. If you attend all four you’ll have a complete set as a memento. 

In July we are reading Ocean’s Godori, the first book from Lena Waithe’s new publishing imprint, Hillman Grad Books. Described as “Becky Chambers meets Firefly in this big-hearted Korean space opera debut about a disgraced space pilot struggling to find her place while fighting to protect the people she loves”.

We have two days you can sign up for to discuss Ocean’s Godori, Saturday July 13th and Sunday July 14th at 6:30pm. We’ll be meeting at Adirondack Pottery, which is right down the hall from the bookstore at The Shirt Factory. If you would prefer to pay in cash you can stop into the bookshop!
